Scholar and hero
(HT: Studeo and my husband)

"My father blocked the doorway with his body and asked the students to flee," Joe Librescu said in a telephone interview from his home outside of Tel Aviv. "Students started opening windows and jumping out."

This article made me want to cry. He truly is a scholar and hero. I can't get over the irony of his surviving the Holocaust (and the dangers of Israel) to be violently murdered in the quiet town of Blacksburg (about 30 miles South of me).

Yes, I felt the same way. But think, he saved several students and through his heroism blessed many more peoples' lives. There is irony, but with that silver lining. I didn't know you were so close to VTech, Steph. We are on the other coast of course, but it rocked us here too.
