I think it's the poems and the GKC quotes

Like Love2Learn MOm, I checked my blog for readability:

I compose my writing in Microsoft Word. A long time ago I needed the word count function to show. I went to the tools section in Word and asked to view more info at the time of spell-checking. So now one thing that I see at the end of my spell check is a word count plus the grade level of the writing of that piece.

The piece I published tonight was 5th grade level. I didn't spell check my haiku or who knows what would have come up. But the book review I published two days ago I recall coming up at a 12th grade level.

I think the checking of each piece with a known evaluation tool like the one Word used (Flesch-Kinkaid I think it is), is more accurate. I see also the pieces in which I'm chatty are usually middle school or elementary grades while the longer rants and thoughtful essays are up closer to 12th grade.

Whatever!

I don't blog to rate my writing.

Please continue to blog and don't think about stuff like that. Just write what moves you and what you feel you want to either get out of your brain, off your chest or what might be useful or entertaining to someone else!

Huh. My blog came up at a high school level, while my 13yodd's came out to be college undergrad level? How do they figure these things out, anyway?

LOL, we homeschoolers are such subversives : ). .... checking behind the curtain to see who's pulling the strings.

I think my daughter is a genius (of course), but I too am not sure how they came up with that reading level on her blog. I'm not sure she'd even be very grateful since I'm sure she doesn't want to talk only to "other geniuses" (I'm joking!)
