Split Personality Blogging

No big surprise: this here blog came out as an INTP blog. Because that is what I personally profile as (look at my sidebar), it makes sense.

What personality type is your blog?

***(NOTE: if you look at this and take the test for your blog, I'd love to know what it comes out as and if you think it's valid!)***

HT: Clare

INTP - The Thinkers

The logical and analytical type. They are especially attuned to difficult creative and intellectual challenges and always look for something more complex to dig into. They are great at finding subtle connections between things and imagine far-reaching implications.

They enjoy working with complex things using a lot of concepts and imaginative models of reality. Since they are not very good at seeing and understanding the needs of other people, they might come across as arrogant, impatient and insensitive to people that need some time to understand what they are talking about.

Now for the "split" part:

Here is the profile for my other blog: Schola et Studium

Here's where the typealyzer caveat comes in:
Note: writing style on a blog may have little or nothing to do with a person´s self-perceived personality.

ESTP - The Doers

The active and play-ful type. They are especially attuned to people and things around them and often full of energy, talking, joking and engaging in physical out-door activities.

The Doers are happiest with action-filled work which craves their full attention and focus. They might be very impulsive and more keen on starting something new than following it through. They might have a problem with sitting still or remaining inactive for any period of time.

Funny : ). I guess the TP part is consistent.

Three out of four isn't bad! My blog came out as ISTJ ("The Duty Fulfillers") and I test as an INTJ.

Oh, and the Latinitas blog came out as "The Doers" too, which is just...wrong. ;)

Interesting! Mine came out as an ESFP "Performers" blog, whereas my personality is ENTP. The description seemed to match my blog quite well - I guess my blog is kind of lighter and more ornamental than my personality!

Both my cookery and knitting blogs came out as "Doers", which I put down to their being "activity" blogs.

AMW came out as ESFP... interesting that an INTJ can write a blog so completely the opposite, eh? But AMW is definitely an ESFP blog, and that's how it should be.

Weirdly, though, my book blog comes out as ESFP, too... and that blog is mostly comprised of quotes from Pope Benedict XVI, Chesterton, Belloc, Scripture, and Arnold Lunn.

The Latinitas one IS so very wrong, Drew. LOL!

Mine came out as ESFP-- Performers. I test as INTJ. Weird. I do like my blog to be upbeat and entertaining, though, and sometimes I use it as a yearbook-type journal.

The other day Triss and I were talking about blogging, and she said that when I first started blogging, she noticed, after reading a blog post on it, that what she had thought was an ordinary day was actually special.

I told her I guess I'm pretty good at spin. But really, each day we are here is special-- and it's our job to notice.

My blog came out ESFP. The S is right ... but I'm as I and J as they come. I can barely TYPE the P there.

HAhahaha! Willa, this is funny! My personality in real life is honest to goodness INTJ (but I thought for a long time that is was INFJ) ... and my blog? Apparently the voices in my head ARE actually other people! lol! My blog personality is ESFP! None of them are me!

I saw your post on my Google Reader, took the test, and posted the results (ESFP) on my blog. Then I came here and read the comments, and see that everyone seemed to have the same kind of results.

Are we all trying in some way to be more socially acceptable than we really are (except for Drew here, who is at least an honest introvert), or is this analyzer just very, very beta? I do think it makes sense that a lot of N types' blogs would come out S, as people usually post more about their everyday doings than anything else.

Anyway, it was entertaining--thanks! (And thanks to Clare for letting you know about it.)

The TP in me just loves the data rolling in, and the reflections that come with it : ).

Stephanie, I had always thought you were an ENTJ. ... so maybe your writing does sound just slightly more extroverted than you are in "real life". The SFP is funny, though : ).

Thinking about what others have commented I wonder how many of us write to "process" and how many to "balance". In my case, I write on here to process so I write as what I am, an INTP. (though I'm a bit surprised my blog didn't come out INFP since I seem to write a lot of somewhat emotional stuff on here). On my other blog, I am very conscious of trying to balance my spaciness with concrete planning and doing in order to make my homeschool run more smoothly.

So perhaps if you are blogging to express a different side of yourself (for whatever reason) rather than to just work through your default mode, your blog will look different than your personality.

Or the typealyzer may be just very beta, as you said, Laura. Ha! : ). Fun though!

Ha, ha! I just noticed that the computer is a Mac.

That "why do you blog?" question is very interesting. I blog to have a place to put stuff, and probably also because with blogs one person can speak at a time ;-).

Here's mine:

ESFP - The Performers
[ESFP]
The entertaining and friendly type. They are especially attuned to pleasure and beauty and like to fill their surroundings with soft fabrics, bright colors and sweet smells. They live in the present moment and don´t like to plan ahead - they are always in risk of exhausting themselves.

The enjoy work that makes them able to help other people in a concrete and visible way. They tend to avoid conflicts and rarely initiate confrontation - qualities that can make it hard for them in management positions.

And, no, that doesn't sound like me. Maybe I sound like more of a party girl on my blog than I do in real life.

I've taken the Myers-Briggs twice with different results:
INFP (Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Perceiving) and
ENFJ (Extroverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Judging)

mine came out as ISTP (The Mechanics) and I'M pretty sure I don't test as an introvert on anyone's scale.

Thinking of your two, I wonder if it is because you split your activities between the blogs. Schola et Stadium is much more about just reporting what you are up to where as this blog is much more reflective. And you've been doing that series on the articles on your desk which is going to bump up the thinking thing.

Performer, too. (Looks around at lack of interior decor). Not entirely accurate. I think I'm an extroverted introvert. I like to chat, and then I like everyone to go home and leave me alone. :)

I've been meaning to ask- Willa, is your conversion story up somewhere? I'd love to read it.

Mine came out as ISTP the mechanics. This seemed to be more me before having many children- maybe like me up until child number 3. It's funny though, maybe through blogging (which you can do in fits and starts etc.) I can produce something that is out of the usual round of laundry, dishes etc. so it comes across as more the old me....

Hmmmm...pretty vague ramblings!

Willa said...

Lissla, I don't THINK I have my conversion story up anywhere. I've thought about writing it; not sure how I could keep it from being book-length though : ).

A book would be even better! :)
